Warm Pacific Greetings

Welcome to the Australian Pasifika Educators Network (APEN)

We are a community of Pasifika and non-Pasifika educators, students, and allies committed to advancing equity, representation, and culturally responsive education in Australia.

Our work is grounded in love, respect, and relationality, with deep recognition of, and solidarity with, First Nations peoples — the original educators and knowledge-holders of this land.

Join us in shaping an inclusive and innovative future for Pasifika education through collaboration, professional development, advocacy, and connection. Together, we’re building a platform that centres Pasifika ways of knowing, being, and doing in all spaces of learning.

Research Report

Pasifika Communities in Australia

APEN's latest report unveils Australia’s rich Pasifika communities, analysing data from the 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics census. It comprehensively examines the challenges, progress, and unique contributions of these communities in our nation.

Advancing Pasifika Excellence

APEN is also a channel through which community, educational institutions, local and national government and policymakers can access Australian Pasifika perspectives, advice and strategic direction to enhance policies, strategies, and programs that impact Pasifika learners in Australia.

APEN Membership

APEN welcomes members living in Australia with Pacific Islander and Māori ancestry and heritage and we seek diverse perspectives working together toward a common goal. The network commits to working collaboratively with Australian Indigenous and Pacific Indigenous peoples locally, regionally and globally.

Our vision is to empower Pasifika educators, learners and communities to thrive in Australian society.

APEN acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to Elders past and present. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
