Engaging Pasifika Students and Families - Strong relationships make strong learners. Format: Live and interactive — available online and in person Duration: 2 hours Delivery: Q2, Q3 and Q4 — dates and locations to be confirmed Facilitator: To be confirmed Certificate: Certificate of completion issued upon attending the session ABOUT THIS COURSE Family and community are central to Pasifika learner success — yet many schools struggle to build the trust-based partnerships that make this possible. This workshop supports educators and school teams to develop culturally grounded, relational approaches to engaging Pasifika students and their families. Participants explore the values and relational frameworks that underpin authentic engagement, and develop practical strategies to strengthen communication, participation, and collaborative partnerships that centre family voice. LEARNING OUTCOMES Participants will: • Understand the cultural values and relational principles that shape Pasifika family engagement • Identify barriers to authentic partnership and develop strategies to address them • Apply culturally responsive communication approaches with Pasifika families and communities • Build school-wide practices that invite and sustain meaningful family participation • Design engagement strategies that are relational, reciprocal, and community-informed • Strengthen collaborative relationships between educators, families, and community that support learner wellbeing and success WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE? • School leadership teams • Wellbeing and student support staff • Community engagement practitioners • Assistant and Deputy Principals • Heads of Curriculum and Instruction PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS This course is designed to support your growth against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST). On completion, participants may log this professional learning against applicable AITSL standards as part of their ongoing accreditation requirements. WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?
